  1. The Link 3 will be an early version of PCL maxi along with this 1982 Emperor club (MPU pic) which has the same board. Because the Money Drop is on £4 payout has to be at least an 87 game so expect by then the the board was more compact.

  2. Hi All, Anyone know what maygay tec this is please? Switches up to 2764 Note the single 24 pin ram & 2764 ROMs that don't quite match MMM...

  3. If all the lamps are off with the transistors removed then the TIC206 triacs must be ok. Check if the first four outputs of the 4017 are going high one at a time in sequence. If they are, the fault is between there and the transistors. Be very careful as the entire circuit is not isolated from the mains!

  4. Oh no it isn't! Now I've had a proper look at it, it can't be Maxi as that uses a SC/MP CPU rather than a Z80. The mystery board has a Z80 CPU and no PIO chips so it must be MMM, probably a later version as it has a single 6116 RAM chip instead of the two 5101's on the early version. Procon was the first to feature a row of PIO chips along the middle of the board. Maygay PCL MMM Manual.pdf Maygay PCL Maxi Manual.pdf Maygay PCL Procon Manual.pdf

  5. The reels on them pcl maxi machines like superstars, double bonus and link3 used to kind of slide to a stop, maygay quickly moved on to mmm with cash or nudge freespin wild hold etc.

  6. Trying to get to the fault on this! I wrongly read the last digit on some of the chips as "8" when it was "B" so have updated that above. So the 4017B is a decade counter so assume that does the flashing? Now I'm getting pulsing on it's enable but nothing on the outputs? To me that would look bad? but there may be much more to it, then all the lamps are on, if that was bad would they not be off? The 2x 4011B left top and bottom seem to be regulators possibly 5v logic? And then the 4001B some kind of buffer? Any pointers would be great, I don't want to replace anything that's not needed! Thanks Ronnie

  7. Hi Bob It had 5517 ram. I just used the 6116 as a sub as I know it's fast enough for pc90. also has 4 extra pins on the rom sockets to accommodate 2764. Most other chips are the same I think. The Cro won't work on some boards without ground but is fine on all JPM boards without ground. All procon boards need grounding so nothing unusual. If I ground it and probe CPU pin 1 fuse gone. Same with any other pin probe. If I put the Cro ground onto ROM pin 1 the machine starts flipped out with all sorts of things making noise. Will have a look on another machine to see if it's Cro gone bad. Gone through quite a few 1.6A fuses today.

  8. When I first glanced at the pic I thought, oh yes, MMM but it isn't. Not seen that one before but it looks like it shares most of the MMM layout. It doesn't look the same as the MAXI either? The first major difference I noted was the RAM. In the MMM it's 2x18w chips whereas this one is a 6116. If it blows the 15v fuse you must have something amiss with your scope?? Or do you mean when you connect the ground of the scope?

  9. Another nice original example, still on old coins and 5p tokens... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284456581506?hash=item423aeef982:g:6iAAAOSwE2FhRbxl

  10. These do run (sometimes) in the machine. But I can't for the life of me get it running today. Blows the 15V line fuse if you touch it with the oscilloscope

  11. The board has a switch for 2732 or 2764. My rips were from 2764 but perhaps if you split the ROMs in half they may run as 2732? Worth a shot bud

  12. Thanks Ron . The back door has 86 but game name don't match, hence my confusion. The Levi paid sticker in the cab also says m/catcher. Is mmm (triple M) and PCL maxi the same Tec? Most of the chip layout is the same as mmm

  13. The Maxi board in Link3 doesn't look the same as the one in Money Drop. Maybe there's another variation that I haven't seen before.

  17. Thanks Bud. Looking at the circuit diagrams it has 2708 roms & 24 pins Here is a PCL Maxi I worked earlier... Thanks for the input @CanonMan. I'd suspect PCL MAXI came before MMM
