I assume this is the Data I/O 22? If so did you know a guy called Mike DiBattista has written a Windows program to talk to all the Data I/O programmers and very good it is too. I use it all the time with my 29B. It's a free download from the groups.io forum DataioEPROM but you'll need to sign up first. Hope that's useful.5 points

Another update. I scanned and uploaded some more pdf docs yesterday. I've also just tried photographing some schematics, but I'm not that happy with the results. I might see if I can get them scanned professionally. They range in size from A2 to A0 and beyond. The largest being 'Hot Dog', which measures 180 x 82 cm. 😲3 points

Big shout out to Peter Falconer aka "Magik" for his continued and invaluable assistance in repairing my broken mpu boards. Peter has talked me through repairing a couple of mpu boards and I really couldn't have fixed them without his awesome knowledge. He has a YouTube channel with videos of his repairs - well worth a look:3 points

Love that! Very nice to hear about the comprehensive documentation and in exactly the right hands. I got lucky with second hand modern kit that can handle oldskool jobs like 27082 points

Fine as they are just going to be used in front of machines in my man cave.2 points

ROMs are about as it's emulated https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/1246-nudge-double-up/ that's the had bit covered I've got the right kit to burn SRU roms and perhaps have some good spare 2708 too. Looks like I ripped a set 😁 https://www.fruitemu.co.uk/ib/topic/19629-sru-unknown-rom-set/#comment-3059332 points

Hi all I recently discovered some old Bell Fruit documents and posted about it in Ron's Electro Club.. Bell Fruit Documents - RONS ELECTRO CLUB - The MPU Mecca Some of the documents relate to (Black Box) MPUs and other later stuff, so I thought I would mention it here as well. I will be scanning and uploading when I can.2 points

Although I have no pictures, I think Stop it was the MPU version of Catch It. The Stop it schematic shows virtually identical bulbs and button layouts etc, found on Catch It plus, According to the schematic Stop It has electro reel solenoids making it an early MPU machine released around 1979 the date of Catch it too.2 points

Ah, but was it stored in a shed by a cowboy or an Indian? Do Indians even have sheds. Come to think of it, do cowboys??? Eeeeh im all confused now! 🥴2 points

Leds might be a bit kinder on the plastics. Less UV and heat. I guess it depends if you have a colour temperature of led that you like....the old flos were kinda warm white2 points

No, that'll do you no good at all for MPU3 AMP crimps. I did do a thread on this ages ago if you can find it. I did make a three pronged tool which worked pretty well. The official one is really expensive although it is still obtainable, probably because no one has bought any. The part number is :- 455822-1 but it's over a £100 !!!! I found the easiest method was to use two small jewellers screwdrivers and turn the crimp in the housing until the split in the crimp is in between two of the slots in the plug. Insert the two screwdriver blades either side and then pull the crimp out. It should come out fairly easy but don't force it as if you mishape the crimp you'll never get it out!2 points

At first glance I thought it was a reglass of JPM's Hold and Nudge. But those metal faceplates firmly, make it very early JPM SRU tech. Classic MDM fruits, and a 2 quid jackpot. Quite a lot going on here. Sometimes the alterative artwork is just as good, if not better than the originals they are trying to clone. This is no exception Statto2 points

Your SEC meter isn't working, top left corner just above the Astra logo. Check it's plugged in properly at both ends of the cable and if it still alarms, buy another one from eBay.2 points

Well I dunno I don’t think that’s a lot, they was everywhere 87/88/89 started to disappear around 1990 if you caught them after somebody had copped and you were after a jackpot you could do your nuts!! Or be strimming for hours..2 points

I moved the flying saucer sensor towards the top of the tube and then made sure the other one was ok and then the left hand tube is now in use and the right one locked out. I will precede with filling up the tubes and see what happens.1 point

Do have a look at Mikes program you won't be disappointed. It's called PL2260. Congrats for doing your own though, way above my understanding.1 point

Didn't realise there were 4 supply voltages needed. Not many pins left on the chip with that lot connected 😆 I'd think twice before putting a rom in something I'd knocked up... Especially if it was the last one known & no backups existing... Then there is the software side and multiple manufacturers of 2708 Looks like 2708 have got expensive to come by1 point

Wow. That's a lot of £s for an adaptor. I did build an Arduino shield version, which initially read eproms ok, but when I tried to burn some, they literally burned 😳. I'm guessing that I got something wrong.... An easy to build programmer for 2704 / 2708 / TMS2716 / MCM68764 / MCM68766 EPROMs – Matt's Tech Pages https://share.google/y1qxj95mkDGOs1Bk11 point

Where from? Is it guaranteed working order? Also, have you tried this.... Turn the machine off Set switch 8 on the right hand side DIL switch to ON Turn the machine on and leave it for a few minutes Turn the machine back off Set switch 8 back to OFF Turn the machine back on That will clear the RAM and if you're lucky it might boot up... Finally, make sure jumpers J1, J2 and J4 are set the same as they were on the original board.1 point

Re: pinball and LEDs. Agree, BUT…. …you can get ‘LED OCD’ devices that really help with this. Plus, the ‘daylight’ white colour temp of some LEDs really helps with the playfield insert colours - they’re the actual colour, not a very warm and dull version! I'm all for retro things looking original, but likewise I’ve spent a fair amount of time choosing the right LEDs for my pinball machines, then making sure they’re not too bright. They save a bit of power and are generally easier on the lamp matrix circuitry, and they last years so don’t need changing! A lot less heat too. pictures don’t really do it justice.1 point

Myself personally I wouldn’t put led’s in an old classic it just wouldn’t look right the fluorescent tubes give it the warm light look as it should have been ,,1 point

Picked this up. Needs quite a bit of work but should come out ok. Anyone got any stories of this machine? It’s made nearly 48k profit! Managed to find a board out of the old stock room 😎1 point

But have you seen the cost??? Scandalous! Much better to buy from cowboys or Indians from sheds, garages, lockups or outhouses. Maybe even oasthouses. And what's this after market service that you speak of. Is it a warranty of sorts??? Ooh it's so intriguing! 😁1 point
