Well I am not opening them with a tin opener!! I also have a box where I chuck all the old silicon chips in TBH best to worry more about breathing in flux fumes than keeping old batts!2 points

Yeah good shout. I blitzed these with Halfords 'new car' spray. I use it on my machines at home- ive got a laminate floor and its lethal stuff!1 point

I sprayed a bit of silicone down mine ( Car Dash Cleaner ) 10 months on all still seems fine and no more jams....1 point

there all dud and discharged years ago! fecked is the technical term! now you get some idea of the amount of battery damaged boards I have repaired!! and that's the boards that actually had battery's on them!1 point

Matty,that looks really good mate. Do you fancy doing my one in my Cashpack machine lol. Annoyingly,it has a curved overflow tube as well and gets jammed in that too. I might have to resort into buying some plumbing pipe if I can find any in the right diameter.1 point

I was given some scrap I/O boards recently to mess around with so I thought I'd see what could be done. I'll refer to this board as Trigger's broom (Only fools and horses) as you'll see what I mean as we go along! This one started out like this ... Pretty horrific I think you'd agree. First thing was to see if all the muck and grime could be removed. Easiest method for that is shove it in the dishwasher!! After a light 15 min wash it started to look a bit more like it would be worth working on. All the middle rusty resistors had to come out and a new 20 way socket was needed. Next thing was to power up and see what was or more likely wasn't working. Many hours later, this was the result ... Of course it now works a treat but the silicon count was rather high. So you see what I mean about Trigger's broom.1 point
