  1. Hi Bob, well I can post my first successful board repair! Spoke to player and yourself and did exactly that, followed the orange cable and metered it. swapped transistor and here we have it….. thanks for all your input, and yours player even though I didn’t speak to you on here today 😂😂 feels good to do something I knew I was capable of and see as working machine. I’ll keep this other board as is Bob, it’s been useful for this excercise and am sure is fixable at some point but for now I’ll see if and what spares I can get before I worry as I’m sure I’ll get more faulty stuff! next the psu when the pots arrive next week. I’ll desolder the old ones today and hopefully that will be successful too. thanks again 😎👍🍺 70515475538__5A00697D-07A9-4CBA-9522-85F9C35B3EFD.MOV

  3. With Birmingham transport now gone, does anyone know of any reliable courier I've got two machines that need collecting, one in Yorkshire, one Northampton both to come to southport thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  4. A lot of these old pots lose their tension and don't make good contact, sometimes the two tension spring bits (how else do you describe it ?) actually snap! How that happens is anyones guess but I've seen it loads of times. Also the carbon track becomes detached from one side or the other. Fun & games with all these old parts.

  8. Couldn't tell you how the wiring goes in the machine as it's probably game specific? All I can suggest is to tap the wire out and see where it goes. It could be devices further back of course (IC24, 36) in which case you'd need to check the base voltage on that transistor.

  9. The RESET led should come on for a few seconds on switch on so it's not going into RESET! There's two RESET paths to look at, first one is out of IC31 pin 7 and this should go from low to high on switch on. If that's OK then the POWER ON RESET line should go high about 4 secs later (according to my notes) this should reset the CPU pin 22.

  10. What's the state of the board like around the battery area? Any corrosion in the CPU buffer chips can cause all sorts of funnies as can the three transistors near IC35. IC35 I'm finding is failing more often nowadays even in corrosion free boards, just a tiny squirt of freezer is enough to prove it. At least removing it will stop you running in to odd intermittent faults. Never seen any spares for these either as they are long obsolete! The first thing I check on these boards is the female pins in the Molex connectors, more often than not there's a few bent ones which are a real pain to straighten in situ (it can be done though unless they are totally crushed). Most of them occur in HD10 (36 Way) so it's a real pain to swap them out. As to the fault, it could be a number of things but at least it's coming out of RESET. I assume it does go into RESET?
