  2. I was having a lot of trouble getting the YM2149 / AY-3-8910 chips working and not being fake non workers for |M1 boards and no tester existed ( perhaps still doesn't exist) so I made this little breadboard tester using a PIC chip to give the chip the inputs and data it needed to firstly set the chip up, then exercise both output ports while also setting up the 3 sound channels to test them. took a while but it worked well and is great for testing the chips that come off the M1 boards as I have found some work a bit, some don't work at all, some have one bad output which is not good when its needed! leds test all the ports and 3 different sound tones one from each of the 3 different tone generators Worth its weight in gold when testing supposedly brand new chips! good chip first, then the bad new chip, then the good one again to prove tester still works as it should and it was not just a bad connection on the chip! (as if 9 ports not working out of 16 is just a bad connection!!! NOPE ports were dud!)

  5. Only way you could of shot the Rom is by pitting the Rom in upside down. Normally you can tell you have done this as it will fire all solenoid and or dump the hopper in a casino cab.

  12. Here here. Its probably the hardest thing to do in a community of people you don't really know . We all have walls built around ourselves, and it takes courage to take down a couple of bricks and let folks look inside....

  13. Why do people need to be "more understanding", "nicer", "more patient" just to appease certain others. People are who they are, they say things the way they are, they go about their business the way they do..... Why exactly do people "need" to change the way they are? If people don't like criticism etc, maybe they should research by the means of reading or listening before offering comment, criticism and advice on topics that is completely wrong, blatant guesswork and in-factual, no matter what their state of health or well being.

  18. I have read many posts over time on many different forums from cars to arcade machines. It seems like the standard of posts or it may be the way posts come across is getting worse and worse. "I am scared of getting an error on machines, stress??" Really, some of the posts that appear on the Mecca at the moment or some of the people that make the posts don't live in the real world..... Do they? How do some get through daily life? Other posts give advice that is completely wrong and miles wide of the mark.... Ford forum (won't say which)..... guy Want's to disable airbags and warning lights (to pass Mot) as he was scared..... scared of the airbags going off if he ever had a collision..... Need I say more.... The worry fruits, the advisors who would advise looking for a gas leak with a lighter are taking over. Makes me so glad I dropped the interest in electronics, fruities (from such an involved level) a good while ago and made brewing my new hobby where worries, being scared and shit advice seem to have no place.... yet.😩

  19. Why? What do you have against meters. Meters clicking up adds to the experience of playing a machine. Nothing better than a machine clicking away after a massive win

  20. If you get a problem like that in the future then drill the screws out, less hassle that tying to find another complete unit!
