sulzerned started following M1B Italian job/Rom confusion , Payout Solenoid and Different Roms
-
Yep was gonna say the same as ron Mike ,its usually the thin connecting wire to the terminal s that break ..ive done one or two using a new bit of wire or just soldering the break .glue the terminal bridge down with ordinary rubber impact adhesive then use black electrical tape to re insulate the solenoid.
-
If it can be done this would be the guy to ask not sure if he frequents here though you can find him on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/@johnparker007

Surely it would be better on 20p play wouldn't it . Isn't it switchable ?
-
Afternoon Ron, I will take a look, hopefully it will be a simple as hoped! Thanks for the reply 👌

Unless they have burned out, They normally de-solder/break under the bridge to the spade connectors. pull out the two brass securing brackets and remove the coil, it's just wound with tape so easy to access, with the tape removed you will see any breaks and easy to repair and cover the coil.

Good afternoon all, Has anyone successfully repaired or had repaired an old 50v solenoid at all? I would be interested to see if it is possible? I have had a couple go recently, let me know. Thanks Mike

Many thanks , Craig

Hello all, new member here form Ireland. Have accounts on the other popular MFME sites, though they seem to have broken links or errors so getting the files is almost impossible. Hoping to have better luck here and relive some memories of the machines I used to play growing up. Hope everyone is doing well. :)

Nice result matty well done for getting this back from the dead

I finally got this finished! It was a difficult one as I was only getting the odd 20mins at a time to work on it. I had a faulty replacement 6821 with no scclock output to the alpha... I initially swapped this but swapped it back when there was no improvement, but found it later when I came back to check it with the scope... I ending chucking this mofo 6821 across the room. The original alpha had a dead FET but no hole in it like usual. Which is 95% the tell tale sign...on the 12v ones anyway... My spare alpha had an issue where it wasn't internally Resetting... even though the reset from the 6821 was good. On the first boot with it, it always stopped the whole machine dead from coming out of reset... nightmare! I sussed out what this was by unplugging each plug on the board to see what area the fault was. With the alpha display unplugged it booted perfectly every time. The second boot with a new 6821 and the reset fault display worked flawlessly- any other resets or door closes after that and it was just garbage on the alpha display. 3 separate issues all in the same area! I recapped and changed the FET on the original alpha and presto it finally works... resets nicely and displays perfectly every time.
