  1. I've just ripped 3 rom sets from 14K boards. Set A and C are the same CRC32. but on one CPU card there was a daughterboard with a PAL16 chip which my burner can't read (it won't do PAL chips). the other did not. I didn't see either in the rom dat so I suspect they are new. S80_Mar19.zip Have no idea what games they are.

  2. Hi please don't shoot the messenger lol I don't know enough to contribute intelligently regarding roms chr chips etc .i sent v1.2 crackpot to the guy, hes sent me these files back with his instructions I'm not going to be able to test for at least a week due to work commitments so if anyone wants to try these or compare the original files to the modded ones feel free. I've asked his permission to post on here and hes good with it cheers Tony. HACKED-ROMS-CRACKPOT.zip m4crkpot.zip

  5. As far as I know you can't buy the IDC inserts separately for the plugs, you'll need a whole new plug. I suspect these are AMP ones maybe identical to MPU4. I can't remember what the pitch of them was but if they are 0.1" then Molex KK 2.54mm crimp conectors will do, with a Molex shell of course. I've got a funny feeling they weren't exactly that size though?

  7. Stick a bit of see through red sticky back plastic over it, not ideal but has to be better until you can find something better

  10. Yes, maybe wrong words from me using cracked. The rom can be hacked, which in think was done on the mpu3 games but I understand it is more complicated to edit mpu4 roms to bypass the chr checks as it looks in more than one Also as Andrew said some chr chips (I remember BWB) store lamping positions in the Chr so it couldn't be bypassed anyway. Bit beyond me but I have read and been told that mpu4 is very intricate and after all the chr is a security feature that they make difficult to tinker with the more modern the tech becomes.

  11. The chr chip doesn't have to be cracked just by passed surely ?if someone clever enough can hack roms then they can tell re write the code to ignore the check or at least that's how I understand it .by no means easy but a few on here can do it !

  14. You just don’t know when or how static damages chips, just standing holding a board your clothing can generate 200v or so, not good if that goes up a chip!! But at that voltage you won’t feel or hear a noise

  16. These were the smaller type I had to do to my PC92 connectors back in 2016, rotten the same as yours, as o can see very green and rotted out. you just move one wire at a time to the new connectors without buggering the new connector! next connector bad ones replaced old removed ones! yuck! with new shiny white one in background it's not that difficult

  18. You can keep wooden boards like floorboards in bubble wrap with no issues

  19. I now cannot give you any numbers on the plugs as mine where the small type, I did have a tool that pushed the larger wires into the same type of connector you have, but loaned it to someone that then ended all friendship, so lost the tool as never likely to get that back now, and so cannot give you any numbers from it, such is life!!
