It's a tantalum capacitor so there's a good chance it has! Snip it off and try it again.
-
They shouldn't run hot, sounds like a chip has failed unless C1 has gone short?
-
Will try thanks. The board got really hot after being plugged in for a few seconds.
-

Hi all after some great advice here it appears I need a replacement program card for my mpu4 board. Think it is a mod2 but the machine is an 80s "stop the clock". Thank you all

Hello everyone. First of all, I want to apologize because I don't speak the language of William Shakespeare. And everything I write is translated with Google. Let me introduce myself: Jean-Michel, 68 years old. French. A little fan of jukeboxes, pinball machines, and slot machines. I have two Barcrests and a Novomatic. A 1982 Barcrest Ambassador. I registered on your site to find information and probably ask questions. Thank you for your welcome and sorry for my poor English.

Have ordered some 74ls14's hopefully that's the issue
-
yes just put it in the working machine and see if it boots up
-
Thanks guys, is the program card the board that sticks out of the main board and are they transferable between machines? The dodgy one is a "stop the clock" and the other one is a "flash cash". Thanks
-
I have had that very fault with a program card before, have you tried a card from another machine?
-
broken tracks by the battery as the battery leaks it kills the tracks by it

Hi all looking for any advice please. I have an old 80s barcrest machine that when you swith it on nothing happens except some buzzing through the speaker. I have put the power supply and mpu4 board into another machine and both work with no problems so now stuck for ideas. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks
