  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks for this Ron, luckily this has not been messed with apart from the hold cams, it’s dam near working perfect, I already have it up for sale but I will clean all the relay contacts as you described. I think I will just leave the reel band be as it might be brittle! Would hate to shatter it cheers ronnie
  3. I did wonder if any of my cams had been tampered with i know paul suspected the same with his machine when he looked at it and now yours as well ronnie ..
  4. Today
  5. Yes those two cups to guide the coins into the tube
  6. Just spotted this Ronnie, Carfield electro's have to be the worst ever to work on, The problem is frustrating by the lack of Carfield schematics in circulation. I had a glimmer of hope when contacting the Dransfield company to find someone still working there that remembered these machines and thought some paperwork may be hidden away in a drawer. Unfortunately he reported like all the old gear they look to have been thrown out so, I was back to square one with Nicks machine too. A have made a little progress and managed to get it to fire up, fire being the operative word as it has a timer motor and buzzing plus it's constantly chattering a pay slide. as the pay slide is 240vac I have had to removed the offending relay to silence the slide. so work continues. The stripping of the motor and gearbox would have been my first suggestion for the squeal, the same solid grease I had to chisel out of Nicks reel motor gearbox too. Those light optical sensors that are part of the win circuit through holes in the reel drums are not the best system and this one had been tampered with so expect the wins could be wrong if I can get it running. there are three micro switches one on the back of each reel solenoid arm, they have something to do with the wins too as they are operated on cherry wins. One switch arm was completely snapped off on Nicks machine. The reel solenoid mountings again are different on Carfield to such as Bell Fruit, JPM etc and because of the holes through the reel drums for the light sensor, moving the actual solenoid mount won't be an option Moving the actual reel bands may be your only option to aligning the symbols on the win line. All those open relays that operate on mains 240vac will cause pitting of the contacts causes them to get a carbon coating and that in turn reduces the contact circuit and as the machine relies on good contacts can and will cause many different faults. They do need cleaning periodically but, especially after so many years of use. Contact cleaner is the best option with some heavy card between the contacts saves taking the coating off the contacts. The hold timer on Nicks machine appears to have had the same cam job done on it too. Talking to Paul, his Carfield had a couple of faulty timer motors of which I think he sourced from a donor machine so, As Nicks machine has at least one jamming motor it could be that is a problem with the age of these machines. Again they are 240vac, I have a load of 50v but they are no good for this repair so, The only source I have found for the same motors are from RS but not cheap.
  7. Thanks for the offer, I don't think I've got that one. Does that have a 12v meter panel? I've looked at some pics on here and I can't see it?
  8. Oh nice, I would love a copy of that, got one recently and going to be restoring it
  9. Yesterday
  10. I thought that too but both sides are the same
  11. I think that there should be a plastic funnel on top of the grey corrugated coin tube
  12. I've got a Razzle Dazzle schematic if that's of any use?
  13. So I stripped the reel motor and chiselled out the old grease and re packed it with fresh grease so now the squeal has gone The payouts are mostly correct but at times it will miss a 6p win and give 4p so a 2 symbol payout instead of 3. I found the hold timer easy to spot with the bent over cams so it gives less holds and some actually cut away! but since checking the micro switches it's not done it again?
  14. Unfortunately both of these are later machines. It was around 1992/1993 i was playing it. I also confirmed the name of it with a friend (He said it before i did) so it definitely exists and was definitely ghouls and ghosts based. The hunt continues!
  15. Ha ha I only had the one machine and paul gee had the other .
  16. Looks Nice Nick, I'm sure Ron will crack it, if he can't no one can, is that 2 of them I can see?
  17. Hi ronnie ,no I think mine might be slightly later .its 5p play .it was in a poor way but has ron scratching his head as its not playing ball .its also 240v operation throughout the machine which can make testing hazardous .
  18. Ah that's not so good Nick, is yours anything like this one? I'm sure you posted it somewhere maybe?
  19. I doubt ron will have any diagrams ronnie .he has my carfield machine which has so far stumped him and we desperately needed the schematic s for it which it seems are sadly lacking for most carfield/dranfield machines .
  20. Thanks, no don't have the schematics and no diagrams on the back door, maybe Ron will have something
  21. Certainly an interesting looking machine. Do you have a schematic for it?
  22. Thanks Nick, yes it's nice, first nudge machine I believe? Having a thin down so this will be going!
  23. Last week
  24. nope not found one as yet, there are custom transformer winders about as I have used them in the past, but its so far not been worth the bother when displays can be picked up cheap on ebay which are less than the cost of the parts to repair one.
  25. Just dug this out after some time it sitting neglected! on the whole it's working but... The motor I think need re greased as it's whaling a bit on reel spin? when you achieve a 3 symbol win it gets stuck in a continual never ending hold after win loop? I see a stepper motor in the middle of one of the boards (gold colour) with 2 discs I have not seen that rotate? Reel 1 is out of line, I had the deck out but could need see a way of adjusting the stopper arm! Other than moving the reel band I can't see a way of sorting it. On the most part it pays out but I got 3 oranges it failed to pay and 3 cherries it only paid 4p instead of 6p, it seems to have some sort of light sensor and some micro switches on the reels for wins? pics to come Thanks Ronnie
  26. It's a pity those transformers can't be bought as a spare part unless anyone knows of a source?
  27. Also when you fit a new display I would be slightly suspect of the exsisting lamp board. It shouldn't damage the new alpha display but if the new one doesn't work swap out the lamp board next.
  28. Hi All, looking for assistance with a few of my older chipped Barcrest machines.
