  1. MPU3 Power Connector The power connection to the MPU3 board is not the best, I acquired another MPU3 machine the connector was even worse and needed a wiggle to make the machine boot. I have used Deutsch connectors for some time, I found that the female DT series fits well on the MPU3 power Pin. The pin is 19mm long so could be retro fitted to the existing connector, but wouldn't be ideal. (kits are available on eBay Deutsch DT Connector Plug) I designed a 2 part plug case that the pins are fitted to and will not be able to be pushed out when inserted. I also added a small key on the side for correct orientation. By prototyping with printing models and adapting I got to a design that works. I initially had the key on the side. In addition I had two larger keys to fit in the socket on the board but removed those to be more compatible with boards without broken connectors. A bottom part with a small key with the holes aligned to the connector pins. I printed smaller holes and then drilled them with a 1.5mm pilot and then with a 3.2mm drill bit. The design is to have a cap that fits over the top and secures the pins once drilled, the cap can be glued in place. The fit to the board is pretty good so I didn't add complexity with clips. I attach a copy of my .STL files to share in case anyone wants to make some themselves. MPU3 Power Connector.zip

  5. Atm I'm gutting out the old girls place (as I've taken it over), iirc there are some old Polaroids (including the camera floating about), mum collected quite a bit of nostalgic bits, should have some pics of our weekly holidays down Reculver EVERY weekend after school, those were the days. I'll keep you posted.

  7. Those ice creams that size would cost you a tenner now Seriously though, I think we should all be thankful that we grew up around times like this, if you look at the shite we have in our world today it makes one want to build a time machine to go back. Love the vid Nick, nice bit of nostalgia.

  8. Ah I’m sure it does take the credit off you each time you reach £2, so to get on to the 50ps you need another credit. I’ll double check and see if I can capture it, was always the case in the pub years ago. Last time I had this machine it was on 2.0, the streaks just weren’t there at all, a bit like action bank get the right program and the cash advance repeats a lot more.

  10. Button decals The A4 Acetate sheets arrived from Amazon today, I printed the button template on to the Acetate sheets and cut out the button inserts inside of the black line. I fitted the top row of buttons with the new decals and I'm pleased with the results. I have attached a copy of the artwork in pdf and jpg format if anyone wants to print some for their machine. 11. Buttons and decals Re fitted the middle panel with its fresh coat of hammerite, fitted some new black button head screws. Test fitted the push buttons. Managed to buy a bag of Barcrest lenses from eBay that are the same type and sizes. I now have the right colours for the Line Up machine. The inserts are the right colours but with the wrong text and are not easy to find. One of the existing inserts has a blank plastic plate and the text is printed on to transparent acetate. Decided to scan what I have and then to draw some templates to print on to acetate. Spent some time on adobe illustrator and ordered some sheets of acetate from Amazon. Should work fine. Next I tried to remove the text from the spare inserts, tried hot water soaking to no avail, then nail varnish remover which was ok but hard work. Tried light wet sanding with 240 grit wet and dry paper then a this worked really well.
