I've a Dataman pro 40 so is running the latest software which checks stuff and gives a good log and tells you right away if it has bad connection on any leg (and tells you which one). Not used any other programmer so don't know what logs you'd see, or even if what I see is good - even the older dataman may give different feedback in older software. I just tried warming faulty chips as heat can sometimes get an MPU running if cold. It just happened to work. Maybe check the chip spec and warm them a little bit, try reading and repeat but maybe don't exceed the max temp. I'd hope if going colder made your reading worse, maybe going hotter would be better! I've not used AI stuff much and don't really know much about it.

I have a Galep4 which was by far the best reads. I have a Dataman48LV and Chinese programmer. I tried multiple reads at different voltages (where allowed, the Galep won't allow voltage changes). The higher voltage at 5.5 was slightly better. I even tried cooling the eprom down to see if that would improve the read, but the data is lost in the corrupt cells. I know there is a guy on youtube named Bally the Bandit he has one of these machine, does anyone know him personally? I could really do with a ROM dump from his machine. I tried cooling so I'll give the hairdryer a go. This was my last conversation with claude, Freezing didn’t help. If anything it made the reads slightly worse. How the frozen reads compare (82 bytes whose true value I’m certain of): Source Reads Bytes varying between reads Known bytes correct Galep, room temperature 12 23 72 (one read 73) Galep, frozen 6 65 65 → 69 → 70 → 70 → 71 → 71 The coldest read was the worst. The scores climb back towards the room-temperature result as the chip warms up. So cold makes the weak cells less stable, not more readable. Nothing new was recovered. The same 10 known bytes are wrong in exactly the same way: $DDC0 still reads $E1 instead of $A1, $DDC4 still reads $40 instead of $00, and the padding at $F5C2–$F5C5 is still corrupted. The frozen reads also got two bytes wrong that the room-temperature reads had right, at $DDC9 and $F5C9. Everything outside the damaged blocks still matches perfectly, so the reads themselves were fine. All six fail the checksum. That settles it: your 12 room-temperature Galep reads are the best this chip will ever give. Every reading approach has now been tried — two more programmers, five voltages, and cold — and the decayed bits stay decayed. Check the chip for condensation before it goes back in a socket or the programmer, and let it dry fully at room temperature. Then store it somewhere cool, dry and dark, and avoid repeated freezing; each condensation cycle risks the pins and the die. The way forward is still a donor copy or a specialist rebuild, starting from your Galep reads. If it would help, I can merge those 12 reads into one best-read file, with a list of the bytes that vary, to send with a donor request or hand to a specialist.

give it a go got a decent broadband

I can give you somewhere to upload them, or do you have a slow connection ?
-
would need to figure a way of sending them to you, all files are 1.64gb
-
Those all sound very useful for my emulator

I have a disc image but can't remember if it's for reel king or the later 5 game twin screen Astra, I had both machines at one time. Also have the images to load other games onto the older Astra party slots, and random files and drivers I saved in the past

At least you know now @booze.net What are you reading the roms with? I have a dataman and it has a way of error checking with high and low voltage I think. I had some knackered rare roms a few years ago (for bonus talker i think) and they didn't read very well. I found i got way fewer errors after heating the roms with a hair dryer and re reading. Maybe worth a try if you have a decent programmer thought if you did you'd probably have known the dump was bad. I don't mind having a go if you want to send them my way to try? This was the thread https://www.fruitemu.co.uk/ib/topic/19183-bonus-talker-roms/#comment-300747
