  2. Hi everyone, I’ve always had an interest in classic fruit machines and many years ago I owned a Barcrest Old Timer. While sorting through some old electronics recently, I found two original service EPROMs that I received directly from an authorised Norwegian service company when my Old Timer was stuck in an error state. They were labelled “CLEAR PROM 1” and “CLEAR PROM 2”, and they brought the machine back to life after temporarily installing them. I’m currently preserving the contents by reading the EPROMs, and I’m looking forward to learning more about them and contributing anything that might be useful to the community. Looking forward to being part of the forum!

Ah ok as matty said check the plug near the regulator that brings power to the board or the regulator has popped since

Hi Ronnie I noticed yesterday when I switched it on that I don't have any LEDs lit now when there was before I removed the battery and gave it a clean,I thought it was because I had a bad fuse but changed that and still the same,it's like going down a rabbit hole 🤣

Brian the fact you have lit led's on the board would indicate you have 5 volts, you could check with your meter on volts a 74 series chip for 5 volts on ground pin and vcc, the notch on the chip at the top

😂 You've got me scared already but thanks for the advice,I'll see if I've got time to check these things tomorrow be prepared for more questions.🤣

Yeah I dont want to make you too afraid yet. It doesn't look to be that bad, You can easily test the condition of the board surface on the resistance test on your meter just put the probes 5mm apart in the damaged area. Nothing is a good reading. Have you checked the voltages from the power supply aswell to make sure the 12v (14v) is decent?

Thanks for the replies again much appreciated will check the resistor,MattyL hope it's not that as that's definitely above my pay grade if it's something like that, I've had pinball machines for years and fixed a few but when it comes to board work I'm useless. Cheers Brian

It also could be rotten power connector crimps or its shorting across the the corroded solder mask (if these are anything like scorpion 1).

Just use the Ohms setting on the meter, with no power applied of course.

Cheers midibob would I check it under power. Cheers Brian

Yep it supplies the 14v (ish) to the reg. So if there's only 1.2v getting to the reg the resistor would be dissipating a lot of power and very hot if not burnt out! It should be 2.7 Ohms 3 watt I think?

Did a wee check and see R14 is a resistor, midibob when you say glowing would you notice it straight away. Cheers Brian

Hi midibob thanks for replying,I'm a bit knew to this what is R14 on the board. Cheers Brian.

Is R14 OK? I would have thought it would glowing if you only measure 1.28v?
  22. Pharo

    Bell fruit bar 7s

Another wee update,I checked the voltage regulator under power and I'm getting 1.28 on the input and 0.51 on output,I gather that isn't good and the voltage regulator is knackered. Cheers Brian

  24. I hope you enjoy the machine Chris :))) you twisted my hand not to covert it back into exchanges

Can any one please help with all the t8 b4 and cat c games please for a t8 machine please this would be appreciated
  26. New in @chris217s😊 This was the machine that was subject to past conversation. I was looking for the name But now I own the machine. I thought this was a lost machine tbh. VFS Xtra Dividend. Runs on mpu3 tech and has jackpot upgraded to £4! (from £3) Still pays out jackpot in 10p tokens. Here is the video😊

Brian watch this or you could put probes on pins 2 and 3 should read 5 volts when powered up
