  2. also check the soldering on the reeldeck connectors board, these crack and go dry jointed
  3. hi jim , i see what you are saying but it is very possible on your point 1 that both decks have faulty sensors, the machine checks them all but reports the errors in order, so if reel 1 fails it will show the hold light lit and stops checking the rest, if that's ok it moves on to checking reel 2 then reel 3, the opto sensors are around 1980's so around 40 years old and in my experience are a very common failure these days, so it may be actually one or more sensors are bad. I seen people swap them around on the deck and still have the same problem because others on the same deck are bad but reel one is always checked first by the software. the sensors also go intermittent, work one min and not the next, that's also how they fail too. you could indeed be right on the cables and plugs, they tarnish with age and cause problems. it could also be the chip on the reel deck although that failing is much less common
  4. Hello. Ah, yes; okay; I understand what you mean. Translation, sometimes... Yes, yes, I've grasped the whole system. Andrew; thanks. I have another roller assembly; I'll replace the faulty one. And redo the measurements. It doesn't hurt to try. Jim has some ideas. I'll double-check the wiring and soldering. Thank you. Thank you, gentlemen and have a good Sunday.

  6. Sorry to interject here, i am enjoying following this thread and looking foward to seeing the machine run. As an outsider looking in sometimes you notice things that might help (or might not). 1. You say in an earlier post that you have tried a different reel deck (roller block) and the same fault still exists, this would mean that you have two reel decks with identical faults which is possible but unlikley. So can you confirm that the correct signals are leaving the reel deck (Bob or Andrew can talk you through where to test on that). If the above is not ok then it would seem the fault is with the reel deck. 2. If the above is ok then can you check the continuity of the green wiring loom between the reel deck and the mpu, also the green socket on the mpu and reel deck ( i can not see any mention of this being checked in previous posts). With the reel deck disconnected the mpu will see a fault and i imagine it goes through a sequence where it checks reel 1,2,3,4 and if there is no reel deck the first fault it will see and report is reel 1, again Bob or Andrew can confirm this. I will go away now and continue enjoying this thread. Jim Ps, as a relative newbie myself to the forum i would just like to say how good it is and the great people on here with the help and expertise they freely give, Well done everyone.👍

  8. good evening Sorry, I don't understand your first sentence. the lit HOLD corresponds to roller 1. Pin 10. As I said before, I would like to change the photo-sensors but I don't have a reference to order the correct ones. Do you have one? Another question; please; Why; the same error, roller block disconnected. Thanks
  9. so the light will be on the bracket of roller 2 but the sensor is on the bracket of roller 1 yes the fault it is sensing is roller 1 as the hold light for that is lit, this is what I thought it would be, i suspect it is the photosensor on the bracket, it is a common failure
  10. Hello I can't thank you enough. Here are the results. It seems there's an issue with roller 1 on the left. Which is causing the corresponding HOLD light to illuminate. At least, I think so; I'll let you interpret the results. Could this be a starting point for a repair? Thank you so much for your time.

  12. OK, in one of the earlier pictures you show the reel deck with the lamps on. If you position the reels so that the lamps hit the sensors and you should measure 5v on pins 10, 11 and 12 on IC5. If you then cover the lamps so that they don't shine into the sensors (or force the reels round a few steps by hand) the voltage should drop to 0v. That way we can confirm the signals are actually getting to IC5. I'm still not confident this is what the problem is but it's good to check as we have to eliminate everything.
  13. Hello Well, I did some testing, like Andrew, with an LED. (Thanks!) It reacts well to light. Now, I'd like to replace the LEDs and bulbs with new ones. All of this might be worn out. Do you know of a replacement part number, please? I don't have anything written on the schematics. Then, Midibob's question: Regarding the coil sensors, I don't remember if I asked you to confirm whether the correct sensor signals were actually reaching the 6821 (IC5)? I can't answer because the machine goes into error mode immediately. And apparently, there's nothing measurable! I'm completely lost. Note: the machine goes into error mode even with the rollers disconnected. Well, I know I'm bothering you with my questions. I can't even afford to buy you a good beer, which saddens me. THANKS VID_20251128_150209.mp4
  14. Belated thanks! Shame we don't have the original (very naughty) K-Klass sound ROMS that got BFM into a LOT of copyright trouble back in the day.
  15. Good evening. Thank you for the videos. I'll review them all. Thank you.
  16. Yeah the guy is known to be good at what he does, he must have spent a good amount of time to just re draw the decal, and he is going to do the 3 missing button legends too
  17. no worries at all, Bob has explained it better, it is often the photosensors that fail, it is very common so good to test. here is a test i did years ago with a logic probe, hopefully it shows what you are looking for
  18. I don't doubt your expertise at all. The translation is sometimes odd. My apologies, I don't mean to offend anyone. I'll check on the 4049; it's brand new. I'll try to identify the required voltages. Thank you.
  19. I think you could be right Bob! What an amazing job though!
  20. It's the translation, Andrew is one of the senior techs on here what he doesn't know you could write on the back of a postage stamp! OK, the sensors go through a CD4049 which inverts the signal, that's the chip on the reel backboard. So can you check to see the sensors (on and off) actually get to the inputs on IC5 correctly. Should be either 5v or 0v (approximately).
  21. Andrew ; It's not a coil but a stepper motor. Step by step . The translation might be incorrect. Midibob; No, we didn't explore that idea. If you want to tell me what to look for, feel free. Thank you, Gentelmen
  22. That would be logical, maybe it needs digging a bit deeper. Thanks for the manual, nothing unusal there so I think we can discount a switch issue. Going back to the reel sensors I can't remember if I asked you to confirm whether the correct sensor signals were actually arriving at the 6821 (IC5)?
  23. ah ok, my reasoning was if the 'hold' lights up it it showing the reel it thinks is faulty so if its the hold for reel 1, then its reel 1 it is sensing the fault on
  24. Oops; two photos aren't uploading properly. But you can still download them.
  25. Hello. Yes, I tried another roller assembly. I tested the receivers. They respond like a switch when the light passes in front of them. I'm willing to test again; maybe even replace them. The same error occurs whether the roller assembly is connected or disconnected. I have the manual for my machine and I'm sure it's the correct one. It was included with the manual. I also have documentation for the rollers. If needed, I can make another video. Thank you.
  26. I reckon he's going to be busy now!
  27. I think the reels never spin (although they are powered) as it alarms as soon as the start key is operated. I think he's tried another working reel deck too? I've had a thought this morning which is probably nonsense but I'm wondering if a switch or a link (somewhere) has to be set, like a meter sense or similar. Clutching at straws here as you can tell. Pity there isn't a manual for this one as it might be mentioned in the alarms section.
  28. I managed to find a chap to redraw the damaged glass, looks good in the thread, just waiting on the actual decal to be printed and sent, he is also doing the button decals I'm missing so well happy link to thread https://www.ukvac.com/forum/threads/small-glass-art-reproduction.87391/
