  2. I don't know this game but do the reels spin (index) when it's switched on? Most MPU3 games I've seen the reels spin on switch on and again if the door is opened or closed and if the 'test' button is pressed. If this one doesn't (at switch on anyway) I suspect the lamps sensors aren't working which may explain why you get the error with the reels disconnected. Can you confirm the 4 lamps are coming on as if not it's likely T55 has failed (BCX38). You do say emitter OK, does that mean the lamps? Bon courage.
  3. Hello everyone. In another post, I presented my machine: a Barcrest Ambassador. I've spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot it. But a significant problem remains. I'd like to explain my issue here. First, the battery had leaked; I removed it, cleaned the circuit board, and replaced the RAM. It starts up. It goes into attract mode (spinning arrow). I can add and remove credit; the electromechanical counters work; I can select the stake (1 to 10). But if I press Start, the machine goes into error mode with the left HOLD light illuminated and a long beep. If I press the TEST button, I get the same error. So, I suspected the reel control system. But no. It's also worth noting that the same error occurs if the reels are disconnected. Roller block tested. 16 stators at 27 Ohms; stator pair at 54 Ohms. Phototransistors tested OK. Emitter OK. All roller components OK. (I even tried another roller block) So, the problem is definitely with the MPU. I replaced all the ICs, capacitors, diodes (D44/D45), transistors, Zener diodes, 6840, 6808, 6821, etc. The EPROM board is OK; tested on a working machine. The socket is also perfect. All power supplies are good. Regulator replaced (7805), capacitors replaced, diode bridge replaced, etc. And still the same. What reassures me is that, after replacing all that, there are no other problems. By changing the components, I haven't created any other faults. I'm not skilled enough to troubleshoot with an oscilloscope. I've seen plenty of videos by Mr. Magic who troubleshoots these boards with a smile. I've read lots of posts and diagrams here. But I'm stuck. If anyone has encountered this problem before or could guide me, that would be great. Thank you Thank you for taking the time to read this. 4. Hi everyone, hello from Italy! Nice to see a community like this😀

  6. What software did you build your board on? The realisation is great from when you used to play the games back in the day- to hitting the button to order your pcbs, tracking them hourly all the way from China and then self congratulating when you find out they actually work 😅
  7. I seem to remember Andrew did a nice card with SMD components and engineered the ZN404 out.
  8. Very nice boards... I love purple boards. We have the logic maps for the Pal/Gal chips if you want to program your own. P.s the impact-R are not Matt Potter boards, Rob Moore drafted them out and did the work (I helped out)... Potter knocks them up

  10. i do agree some games most likely in your region do need the separate eprom card as they have a extra security chip on them
  11. well the cpu cards with the roms on you can just NOT put the roms on the cpu card and still use the rom card with it, so opens up the market to both rather than limiting your market to one type
  12. yes I bought 3 from him but ship to belgium, add import tax, they became to expensive. many cards with battery leakage. not many people repair impact anymore these days
  13. thats possible, but over here I see most of these, and eproms on a seperate card. dont know why
  14. It's funny how the legs fall off of those liquorice allsort caps.
  15. sup peoples! I used to live in the UK but moved out to the US for work - and I miss being able to play fruit machines!!!!!
  16. Fair comment. It's an exciting, new (to me) concept...looks fun.
  17. No worries, its pretty much just adding and combining and removing shapes until you have your design. It might not print out exactly as you imagine the first print so its really common to revise your design a few times, so dont be disheartened if its not perfectly straight away. After a while you get to know how stuff prints out.
  18. Hello and welcome to the site, I hope you find it interesting 👍
  19. Hi, C1 is 100nf (0.1uf) +-20% 250v, a general purpose film cap like https://cpc.farnell.com/vishay/2222-368-45104/capacitor-0-1uf-250v-5pk/dp/CA05371?st=0.1uf Not as pretty as the original though. C2 is 1000pf according to the schematic.

  21. Looks good. 👍 How come you had to repair so many? I have 2x the [red] Matthew Potter boards - they’re great!
  22. can i ask.. why did you not do the one with the roms on?
  23. Hi everyone, I'm repairing a Royal Diamond MPU3. It had battery damage. I've since repaired it and replaced the components. Now I have the following problem: the 1000nf capacitors (around the white plug) are falling apart. I want to replace them, but I'm not sure which ones to use. Please advise. Greeds Wim
  24. Hi Everyone Eden here from sunny Manchester in the UK. I've been playing fruit machines since I can remember. I'm looking to re live my youth and starting using MFME to re play some of the retro slots that I love whilst I'm not able to get to a local arcade to play them. I remember when my dad used to take me to a local working men's club and there was a £1000 jackpot club machine, I can't remember what the machine was called, but everyone used to queue to play this and even had a waitlist so people could not hog the machine all night to play it, this was in the late 1990s. Great memories.

  26. Hey Matty. Thanks for the heads up on Tinkercad. It's brilliant, I love it. Endless possibilities, and so much easier to use than stuff like Photoshop. Cheers
