  2. Mpu1 isn't supported by mfme unfortunately There will be a locally installable version of JFruit out in the near future. In it you will be able to load and create layouts for these machines.
  3. Excellent work Pete and thank you for making them available. Some of these bring back many happy memories of being a nipper on holiday in Newquay (Wales) in the arcade, especially the Brenco. Is it possible to download the MPU1 files to play in MFME as i have a fixation with these after resurrecting my Nippy Nudger. Again Thank you.

  12. this has tonight interested me to look at what i did years ago, it was definitely a ball ache to change the codes manually which resulted in burning a useless chip that wouldn't work in a machine and of course just loosing the cost of the chips which are becoming more difficult to find. so I have started with AI tonight to do a program which askes for the code needed and insets in into the right place in my original code. this would then make it much easier to produce correct chips as there is no where to get them made these days. so if needed i may be able to make them in the future
  13. Some more information. I asked Claude to patch out whatever the code was checking for which was preventing the ROM from running. It turns out that the reason the game won't run is because the code is corrupted. So the ROM dump I posted here is bad. Part of the EPROM has rotted and the data is lost. The sound ROM is good. The machine was used on a canal boat and the humidity and close proximity to water has like damaged the EPROM. Claude was able to salvage 80% of the game code but it's not enough to make a good dump. I tried giving Claude another ROM by Eurotek Designs in order to re-build the missing data, but the game is too different and doesn't share any code with Rol-a-top. So until a good dump turns up or I can find another machine, I can't get this machine working. Paul

  22. Gentlefolk, Thank you for your interest in the removal of the Royal Exchange gamble block. It's encouraged me to post a similar document detailing how I did the same for Stake Up (and Multiplay) about six months ago, for all those who are interested in the inner workings of these machines. They made no effort to consider what you would win if your double-or-nothing gamble succeeded; they were, quite literally, a random 50-50 win or lose. The programmers were probably happy with this as the gambles were limited to £10 so nothing too calamitous would happen. With the new ROMs, of course, it could discover that it has paid £100! These were MPU4 machines and they used Motorola's 6809 code. Although this was built on the 6800 code which was used for the MPU3 machines, it is an order of magnitude more difficult to fathom. Do please bear this in mind if you look through the attached document; it is very much written for coders! Many thanks again for your interest and comments, Bernard STAKE UP AND MULTIPLAY GAMBLE BLOCK REMOVAL.docx
