  2. Wish you d messaged me about the frames eddy as I'd have advised you to take the corners off .personally whilst they look great and I know you tried to keep the orange peel effect id have took them to a powder coaters and got them done that way as powder coat is quite hard wearing. My local coaters who I've used for years does the peel effect which they call leatherette. They generally charge me 15- 20 quid per frame and saves all.the agro of taking the piant off .Great job all.the same and they will look great when they go back on .👍

  5. Thanks, for the info. During stripping I was thinking to my self there’s got to be an easier way. Took best part of an afternoon to strip and prime. I know now for next time.

  7. Frame Clean and Paint The frames are starting to show their age, there is some corrosion and peeling on the aluminium. I decided to give them a some paint. I started by removing the frames from the machine and stripping them with nitro mors and then sanding them back to bare metal. I then undercoated them with etch primer. I had searched online for a spray paint with a crinkle finish. I found Pro XL - Pro Tex, a textured paint for use with plastic bumpers. It was what I thought a good idea. The paint covered well but seemed to react with the etch primer or aluminium. It did not dry and stayed tacky. Also the colour was different on the aluminium sections to the plastic corners. Im no expert with paint so I decided to strip off the Pro Tex and go with Hammerite hammered spray in black. The Pro Tex paint peeled off relatively easily and I re primed and them painted with a few light coats. I’ll leave the frames to dry properly then I’ll sand and give them a final coat next weekend.
