Are You a Spambot ?

  1. Hi Guys! I am working on a MPU4 which i pulled from my dad's machine recenlty. The battery leaked, but it seems in pretty decent shape. Some of the BZY88 4v7 diodes are looking really bad, the caps look not so happy, and the transistors near it will be getting preventive maintenance. Problem #1, is diode orientation. I can read a bit of schematic, but translating it into a PCB poses a tiny problem The acid ate at the diodes and i cannot tell properly how they should be placed. Where does the banded side go? I included an image of the PCB area for reference: Some of them i can see and make the guess that the banded side sits at the top. As in the pic, these are my guesses: 1? 2? 3T 4? 5? 6T 7T 8T Other than the many dried out solder joints i do not see too much damage. The tracks below the battery look pretty decent as well. Just to replace these damn diodes..
  2. ok, so had following fault on a club calamari barcrest mpu4..... upon power up the hopper ran spitting out coins.... then upon test/hopper dump/ normal payout the hopper would not operate giving "obstruction alarm" the mpu4 was dead prior to this so that got changed straight away. the fault was the following open front door, put your hand to back on cabinet above power supply and there is a board 5x6 inches. it has 4 or 5 connectors on it. 4 lines of components, which are 3 pin rectifiers, zenner diode, tiny capacitor and 4 resistors. i had the first line of components all dead and open circuit. changed the lot and cost me like £5 from cpc.... all working fine now but just have to sort the c435a coin acceptor! ide like to say thanks for all your help guys....hope this helps other users in future i have put a pic on here of the offending board
  3. Hi Folks Barcrest MPU4 Club vegas. Has been running fine, now prior to boot I get MPU4 Mux selects alarm. I know this relates to a short on the lamp selects (blue plug) There are various sub circuits and a lamp extender board on this machine. By a process of elimination, If I unplug the top blue plug on the board shown on the picture, the machine boots. This connector feeds the top glass feature lamps. Could a blown bulb cause a short? otherwise what else? Thanks Phil.
  4. Hi I am looking for roms for a Barcrest MPU4 Fright Night, if anyone can help I would be very grateful. Last ditch attempt with this machine so unless someone can help it looks like its for parts. Thanks in advance
  5. Hi All. Last year I bought a house, and in the garage was a fruit machine - Jolly Gems Model on a MPU4 board. The machine did not work. House restoration took priority, but I have recently got onto the machine. Removed the battery and cleaned and repaired a load of track, this allowed the machine to fire up but buttons did not work. Repaired some wire looms (mouse had been in!) and this allowed me to play. Works fine on demo, but when it comes to pay out it had issues,. ..had the 'OBTRUCTION ALARM'. traced this to no voltage to opto... Swapped a few triacs, transistors and caps round on the main board output section and hopper board and the opti was working again and switching fine. However, still did not payput because the hopper motor was not turning...started flashing up 'CALL MANAGER' on payout. Applied voltage to the hopper on its own and it worked so figured the hopper unit was OK. Did a bit more swapping of components and then had another error 'HOP COINSENSE ERROR' ....there is no voltage going to the opto again. The mainboard looks pretty nackered where the battery leaked and the components do too...I cant seem to track down where to but replaceemnts for each component so was looking to see if anyone had a spare (working) Mainboard MPU4 and hopper driver board to sell? Much appreciated! With thanks Barry.
  6. Hello, I recently got a Barcrest Golden Years with a MPU4 Mod4. It starts up all fine, but if you try to get money out of it it says: Obstruction Alarm. As this normally concerns the hopper, I replaced it with a completely new one. But surprise, surprise it did not solve the problem. I then took a look at the MPU itself. There I could see corrosion by the battery all over the board (pictures included). As I am new to this area, I hoped to get some help from you. I did search in various boards, but did not find an instruction on how to fix this problem. Should I simply buy a new MPU? And if the MPU can be fixed, can the battery just let out, to avoid any corrosion in future? (I do not need any saved credits) Thanks a lot in advance, LaRie http://imageshack.us/g/854/img20120724160304.jpg/

Nice find on eBay that stayed reasonable price wise. In remarkable condition for it's age. Addictive bargain!
  8. Hi, I am attempting repair of an MPU4 board (MOD4 with sound chip) and almost there. The battery had eaten its way through all of the copper tracks under it, so I now have a mass of wire links over the board which has solved the non-working display and everything else except when it boots up it does not go into "open door" mode, it goes into normal play and essentially works fine, but I would like to be able to get it into test etc. Is there anything obvious i'm missing - please bear in mind i'm testing in a known working machine, so there is nowt wrong with the door switches, connectors etc. Perhaps someone could explain the circuit that detects the door open (I know its the left hand connections on the black plug PL5 and have checked continuity to IC22) Cheers Phil.
