WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE

I've been quietly collecting the following machines. They are all £4 JACKPOT BARCREST - MPU4 – 10P PLAY machines 1987-1989.

If you have one of the machines (including the action pack) that I don't have (list below) then feel free to contact me with a price, condition etc. It doesn't matter whether it's working or not as long as it's complete. Maybe we can do a deal?

In addition to the Top Tenner, I've also got a Top Gears MPU4 if your interested:) Im only just the other side of the Severn Bridge from you (right by the M4/M32 interchange) so can deliver too if it helps

Out of interest, what the fault on the Action Pack?

:) My system80 wanted list looks a bit like that, only with a lot less 'got-it'

The sadest part is that, TIK TAK TAKE, Swap a Note, Silver shadow, Flash Cash, Top Tenner have all come up on ebay in the last 6 months, including a fully working Action Pack... So what's the problem you ask?

She told me that she would cut my bollox off I've I buy any more machines. I have a garage now, so the plan can move on.

I've just looked back... It was the same lamp fault you had with you Top Tenner, exactly the same.

I'm interested in the TT (maybe the TG also), let me know how much you want for them?

on those haunted machines - unplug the mpu yellow connector.

see if it still fucks around.

something i noticed on the schematic!

Yes, that's reminded me and brought some memories back. I've had that fault before on a club A&L, a weird lamp fault but as soon as I unplugged the red led displays it cured the lamp fault :)

Love this machine - sell it to me PLEEEEEASE - go on, you know you want to!! :D

Made me laugh when I saw your post... I remember back to when I picked it up.

The guy had listed it as fully working... when I got to his house it was absolute filth in there. The smell was so bad, I was gagging. He had his life savings stored in the cash box which he promptly removed before it was loaded on the van.

When I got it home, none of the lamps worked, the mech was on old money and the mpu was complete shot.

The only way I got it into the house was by cleaning it inside and out. Even then the smell from it was awful. (smoke, sweat, stale..) In the end, I filled the inside with bounce tumble drier sheets which eventually freshened it up a bit.

I only ever remember seeing 1 in the wild back in the day. I would say, quite a rare machine?

No, there were plenty of these around back in the day Paul, but I haven't seen one for a VERY long time. Excellent machine, loved playing it. :)

Do let me know if you ever get tired of it, would snap this up given the chance!!

I'll do it and see what happens... will report back.

I put an mpu back in it and switch it on. The Action Pack module is down her house so I had to use an Action Bank module.

I disconnected the yellow plug...

So far so good - no fault!

Previously I had tried various roms so I knos the fault has nothing to do with the module.

I've left it running, so we'll see what develops?

THAT'S IT! SORTED!

The lamp fault has gone. The machine is no longer 'haunted'.

I unplug the yellow connector and the fault disappears. I plug it back in and the fault returns immediately. I've also noticed that the LEDS are no longer working. They did work but now nothing. I can't believe I didn't try that. I'm thinking now that the day it worked (out of the blue) I may have accidentally fogotten to plug the yellow connector back in. (not sure about that though).

So does this mean the LEDs were failing and hence created the fault? Presumably if I replace the LEDs the machine will work as it should. The lamp fault has definately gone. I knew it couldn't be diode because I replaced every loom with working ones from an Action Bank, but as for pulling out the yellow connector, I'd never have thought of it.

I'm chuffed actually! Many thanks.

Anyone got a set of LEDS for an Action Pack, by any chance?

Paul
