Give Us A Break (Club - JPM) and Blackjack (Club - Barcrest)

Recommended Posts

SBJC lives once more, with many thanks to John, with the help of sorting a replacement mpu4 board, and testing of the game cart :D

Now the problems really begin....

Everything works, apart from the fact I have no lamps what so ever, but the main alpha works fine, so something makes me think I have made a booboo plugging in the wrong cable to the MPU.

Anyone spot any issues so far, or able to give me an idea what could be the issue (Possible fuse fault maybe?).

Just a side note, found out who made the PSU for this, and it supprised me that it was a company that used to operate from just down the road from me in Beeston, Aerial Compoents.

have you checked the 34v fuse on the power supply, fuse holders also very suspect to failing

does this use a lamp expansion board - where is the white loom going from the expansion connector next to the coin mech lead lamps!

Update, have now re-fitted the plugs on the mpu, according to the following: MPU4 service manual - TheFnet

8-seg's now work, and given the 34v fuse the torch test to see if it had blown (It works fine).

Lamps still dead.

Any ideas?

Think I've found the problem after having a chat with Magik....

34v fuse holder on the PSU, has gone all brittle and cracked, thus not making proper contact with the fuse. Also connector side looks like it has overheated at one point, melting the protective plastic spade cap.

Also noticed most of the spade connectors are barley biting into the fuse holders, so questionable contact between the fuse and the respective holder.

Now, question remains.... what would be the correct fuse holder to get? (Think I may as well change all of them, as the others are starting to get like the 34v)

Great news (For me that is).... SBJC is now up and running, with exception to a few minor issues (Like bulbs, and the coin tubes).

Many thanks once again to John (Player), and to Pete (MAGIK) last night (Deffo was the 34v fuse holder that was shagged).... Pic's to follow.

Now, just 4 things I need to get her 100% once more....

Coin Tubes, Tube Diverts (Top of the tube to aim coins to cash box), and coin sorter (Plastic bit that sits just under the mech sorter, on the top of the coin tubes). Found I have 3 x £1 and 1 x 20p tubes (Looking at payslides). Got a fellow member who's got SBJC set to £200 / 20p to hand, but is buried, so will take a while to get the needed info (Also looking for the £200 JP decal set, Scanned if need be) for length of tubes, but I estimate this to be of the 50cm size or there a bouts.

Bulb holder for start button (One with a micro-switch that sits in it). Was missing when I got the machine, so borrowed the one from GEORGE for now, till I obtain a spare.

Locking pin for coin mech. Looking from the back, it's the top-right red plastic clip that keeps the mech in place, that has snapped off. Got some plastic strap ties for now to hold it in place.

Last of all (Currently bottom of my list of requirements for now, due to possible costs). Looking for new glass, top and bottom, due to poor condition of the current glass (Art is badly damaged in a number of places).

The "coin sorter" is known as a manifold.

I have various types but not sure exactly which you will need.

Well, got the original one here (I think), but it's a bit cracked and split in places.

Got some doubts if it is the right one, but again I could ask Mike when he manages to get inside the one he has access to.

the layout was fairly standard across the machine range the only thing to watch for would be as the £1 coin and 20p were introduced and 50p droped from the payout

could be time to get the fibre glass out:D

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi Stan,

I've got the attached sitting in my garage. It's got the £200 decals you're after, and has £200 ROMs fitted. The glasses are pretty good too.

It does kind of work, but only on freeplay, and the cabinet is very tatty. It's complete though so if you want any bits from it you're welcome to have them.

If you want the whole thing to scrap and make one complete machine from the best parts of both that's also fine - I don't want anything for it, but you'd have to arrange collection from Kent.

Cheers

Stuart

ooooooof, just what I need, but Kent is a right bitch of a distance.

I deffo need full decals, full set of coin tubes with overflow chutes, manifold (Plastic coin sorter that sits between the pay tubes, and coin mech), mech securing clips (Two small plastic clips that keeps the mech in place). Also as they look quite scruffy, the top / bottom glasses, but may have problems with this (See below).

Granted mine is a bit scruffy, but it works fully on normal play, mostaly thanks down to John (Player) sorting the mpu.

Transport is going to be a big problem here (The glasses being the biggist part of the issue), so will need to think of some way of getting this lot up to J25, M1 (Long Eaton, Nottingham). Just checked DHL, and cost for 25KG's (Assuming it's within it's volumetric weight size, with DHL Domestic Express), is around £45, so that I can live with, unless anyone can offer a better idea?

In any case, if you will not accept any payment Stu, then I think the forums coffers needs a boost (Think I can poss go to £20, noting estermated postal costs).

You are an absolute star

I could collect the machine but am only planning a trip as far as Ipswich, which doesn't get it much further north unless someone else here could meet me and take it onwards?

If you go for the courier route, try http://www.interparcel.com ... UPS currently offer the cheapest service for the bits you will want from the machine at £8.04 inc. VAT but you won't get insurance against damage on the glass so it will obviously need to be wrapped well.

Possibaly a good idea, but I maybe not able to collect till mid / end August, depending on what me mate Andy has on with the Biker Festivles.

Only just got the trailer up to a useable standard, after getting ripped off by a bunch of front bottoms in Hull. Inside right tyer on the trailer was all perrished, and the arseholes allowed us to take it over 100 miles back down the M18 / M1. His mate @ ATS in town basicaly shit himself when he had a look, whilst fiddling with the breaks (Now running / towing nice, now his mate has had a fiddle), and refused to let him leave till a replacement was fitted.

I'll see what he's like for time in the next two weeks, but i'm 99% sure only two days we can poss get up is a Friday / Sunday, so not sure if that would cause any issues?

Failing this, gonna hold out for about a week or so, and see what turns up, being an offer of help from here, or finding a good forwarding service (Would idealy love to take the whole lot, but may have to just settle for parts :()

shouldn't be looking at a lot more than £50 in a reasonably economical car ... 2hrs each way, an easy blast up the M40 ... used to cost me about £65 to chugg up to Evesham in an old van loaded with a ton of vehicle parts, from south coast

more than i have,

and it's *not* an economical car - it's a fucking people-carrier.

it's also an oil-burner but it drinks more than a petrol engine because it's too damned small for the weight of the car.

fucking vauxhall junk!

i suspect it's doing about 23mpg.

my m8's 5l v6 camaro did 29+

machines are £25, i suspect they will stay £25 - very specialised thing running german stuff.

unless you understand them they will lock after 60days and do fuckall.

No rush Stan - it's been in the garage for best part of 12 months so it can stand there a bit longer. I'm (very) occasionally up in the Midlands so I might get an opportunity to bring the glasses up at some point. In the meantine if you want me to remove the smaller & easier stuff and send it up, let me know. Won't be around much this week though.

hmmm, under powered is not good, how did you end up with that, was it a freebee?

If I can find any other way of assisting in their recovery I will let you know ... as soon as I saw them ...

Have a word with Fruitplucker, he offered to run stuff north(ish) at least to the midlands ... might even be able to bring those 2 wall mounts back down for sys80?

Well, if I can get the both up to J25, i've got no problem at all holding on to the bits, till they get forwarded on.

Granted it's a second floor flat I have, but it's not stopped me getting GUAB up there @ 125 KG's :D

SYS80, offer is there if you want it.... I'm between J25 / J24a, M1 not far from East Mids Airport and the A50 if it helps any?

Side note, got a Poxhaull breakers near me in Sandiacre if you need any bits lol.

Many thanks again bud, but like I said, gonna wait a week or so and see what transport I can scrape togeather, and that in turn with dictate as to what will be happening (Idealy would love the whole machine, but would settle for parts if I have to).
