Club Climber MPU4 issue, any help grateful

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Hope you're all keeping well 🙂  recently purchased a great club machine Club Climber of course with its faults!! Did resolve some minor problems with it, but as you will see from the video the issue with it.

Sulzerned kindly swung by mine again for a catch up and a brainstorm on this one.  Its very odd, my MPU4 turned out to be faulty although it was working.  The machine had a "door open" issue, with wires swapped around had the same issue, swapped out the MPU and replaced it with one Nick bought down and life!  In the video you will notice no sound which is due to a missing sound chip, but the machine has more life in it than before.  The issue is the attract mode isn't fully working, and when a coins inserted it automatically plays!  When either a win or feature happens it then locks up.  Disconnected the G for George button and still the same issue.  Checked the wireing to the buttons, one looked odd to us, so swapped the wires to match the other buttons and still the same odd error.  I did swap the start button thinking that was the issue, but still the same.

We were both scratching our heads and couldn't understand why, Nicks way more knowledgeable than me and also hit a dead end.

If anyone has a Club Climber machine, would it be possible to zap a load of pictures of the wiring to the switches, buttons etc as that will be super invaluable and I will be really grateful!!!!  Can then cross reference to what mines on, as really in a pickle as to what the issue could be.

Any help or advice would be amazing!  As myself and Nick were stuck to what it could be

Cheers guys really appreciate it

I'm about to a dive out to small works leaving do, so will pick up any replies later 🙂

Thanks again all

Rob

Guys, the board is fully tested and good .its recently been repaired .this is more likely a stuck switch issue I would have thought

Was it tested on a proper rig, with every single switch input being tested?

Morning all thanks for the messages sorry the leaving do went on and had one too many 🥴 and on a school night too!!!

Good shout Tony, I'll send the cart off to be dumped (and backed up) where hopefully it can be tested too!

As for my board thats out ready to be repaired, but Nicks board thats now being used has been repaired by Bob.  I don't know if something is missed or potentially not working when used in my machine, sadly its the only mpu4 I have so can't even try or swap boards.  It is a bit of a puzzler, just seeing if anyone else has a Club Climber who could kindly take a bunch of pics to compare the wiring too as it seems to be  booting up but not 100%, its odd one 🙂

Cheers again for the messages much appreciated 🙂

Stuck switch usually means a machine won’t boot up, try another known tested board on a proper rig as one machine will use different switch inputs to another, so may work on one machine but not another

It was indeed plus on an actual machine before this one

That suggests a switch wiring fault, a faulty switch, or one of the switches has a spade on it's N.C. tag rather than it's N.O. tag so it appears to be pressed down when it isn't.

Hi all

Apologies for the absence in replying!  I'm just getting built up a storage unit for my machines to be housed in, 16 machines in a kitchen and living room isn't the way forward 🙈😆

Thanks again for all your replies, had a few PM's too and with from Nick too with other suggestions.  Turns out a fuse that was replaced had blown, replaced that and it seemed to be ok.  Now there's no attract mode (with the new fuse in and the correct amp), which is odd.  With the back door open in demo mode the first reel just nudges up constantly, replaced both button switches (the 1st hold and nudge up button switches) and still the same.  Nick has offered to check out his programme cart for a machine comparing it to my one for any issues.

I just wanted to reply to you all as its been silence from my side with other bits going on in the background 🙂 will keep on checking and if there's life will let you know what the issue was (if hopefully found!!!!)

Thanks again all 👍

Cheers guys, yep the cables are all in place with no pins missed, so sadly that's not the reason.

Will keep persevering with help from you guys will hopefully crack this stubborn bugger 😆
