  1. Could be a few things. The LM380 just out of shot at the top. The 76489 does fail but not usually with no sound. Mileage may vary on that one. One of the orange caps is the speaker o/p, can't remember which one off the top of my head. Not seen a bad one yet but plenty of boards have had them swapped out already. Other than that bad connections in HD3.

  5. Think the machine wants to read in the game memory settings of the RAM chip('s) IC 7&8 or a combi on a daughter board. The cpu somehow hangs reading it and wil not proceed. Display also blank? 2 options, just pull out the RAM, that way due to losing also power from the battery it loses all its data content. Wait few seconds and put in back, power up the machine see if that will do the trick. Or replace the RAM with a new one, probably a defect adress position or so . I also just had a cpu hang on my MPU3, this time the RAM IC socket's of daughter board with the MCD6116 RAM were the trouble makers. Lights and coin coils will be only free up as the start-up Initialize is complete with no errors.
