Not hinting anything but pook could make a fine DX out of that picture!

Tbh magik i don't think anybody could make a decent dx from that picture, theres too much flash burn and refections on it.

Yup second that Vinny, a big thanks to Paul for opening his place up for this event. Very generous thing to do!

Was a good day, met some people I'd not met before, put some faces to names. I didn't do much playing on the day since nearly all these machines were mine at some stage and I'd played them to death already over the years, so spent most of my time upstairs playing snooker with Pauls house manager and best mate, (oh and raiding the bar and beer fridge, Bungle told me to!). I was the guy in the Grey hoody top wearing a Benny hat.

Had a good chat with Steve Lancett and Paul (Booze) both top guys.

Even managed to collect a Pinball machine from just down the road on the way home (thanks to Superbank), so yeah good day, good times.

I just thought... how on earth did you manage to get three of you AND a pinball machine in the Audi? Did you drive home with it sticking out of the boot?

My personal favourite was the Spotlight, I didn't seem to be able to lose on it! And it was simple enough for my rather feeble, non-fruit player mind to grasp... as a result must have eventually burned through at least a tenner over the course of the day! Great value.

Thanks to those who enabled all this to happen and to Paul for his excellent hospitality and for throwing open his home, not many would be willing to do so for a lot of people who are, effectively, strangers (and in some cases a little strange... ;) )

I hope we didn't break the bank, although I imagine that any losses would be a drop in the ocean...

:)

I have been following this with great interest and so disappointed I could not attend this fantastic meet,You guys are sooo lucky to not only see such a huge collection of vintage machines in one place plus able to indulge in play with them too.(Green with envy) :crying:

It's great to put faces to names and I for one would like nothing else than to meet and chat.I will be glad when I'm fit enough to be involved in any future events. :D

With those line of BFM Electro's, I am sure Paul would welcome you with open arms for sure :D

Very possible another meet like this will happen in the future, so if you want, probs could do what I did, and had aaamusements (Alex) and Matrixinuk (Steph) meet at mine, and all go down in one car, as you will need to get past mine to get to Brum. Especaly a good idea, when you have 20+ of us turn up, and parking can be a bit limited lol.

Sounds like a plan,Wondered if it might be easier for me to use the train from the North East to get down there and if someone was kind enough to pick me up I would pay the fuel.Just something to think about for the future,It might all change by then. :D

Can do that also, as it's not far out from Birmingham New Street Station (Four Oaks, and 5 mins walk), or you could come down to mine (Long Eaton, just 10 mins ride from Derby, as via train to either Four Oaks or Long Eaton from the North East, you go via Derby) If I go again, and I am sure there will be a bunch of us going.

Can even stay over mine at night if needs be :)

Same offer goes out to anyone, given enough notice, and I am sure other members who are not far from Birmingham, would be willing to do simalar :)

Right then, a write-up I just posted to DAD's, which I will also repost here....

Following on from these two threads on the Mecca....

http://www.fruitemu....nd-early-1980s/

http://www.fruitemu....ca-meet-report/

Was at this Paul's place yesterday, to which I can only describe as absolute fucking pornography!

Located in a very posh part of Birmingham (Sutton Coalfield), house was a self design (MDS mentions he still has the plans back at his place), and actually looks quite small, and crammed in to a corner for saying it cost about £2.75m, but like the Tardis, you get inside, and it's a fantastic 3 floor place, and again what MDS tells me, was all designed around the guy's love of Casinos and Gambling.

2 floors which I guess are about 5.5 mts x 25 mts on BOTH floors EACH, top being a general bar come snooker area, with a full sized match snooker table, 4 old club machines, 2 coffee table video games units, an old bar top one-arm, and other assorted stuff you would expect in a sports bar.

After noticing all that, you hear the most amazing charm of pre mid 80's machines all going off, so you have to wander downstairs, where you feel you have just walked on to a live porn film set, with over 30 machines, all bleeping away, and solenoids pumping away, and many happy and smiling faces to be seen.

Collection consists of BFM Electro's and black box, JPM 80's and MPS, MPU 3, some Langard and Barry Nobel's, and a few other assorted bits.

Even more amazing, is you go through the double doors (Where you see JPMstu resetting a JPM alarm), is a massive swimming pool come health spa.

The host Paul, despite being loaded, has never forgotten where he's came from, and was an absolutely fantastic host, with bacon, sausage, and egg cobs doing the rounds, with plenty of tea / coffee on tap.

All in all, one of my best days out in a long time, and something I seriously wish I can do again, which looks a possibility, as I hear Paul is already thinking about the next meet-up.

Yes, we all took about £20 each to drop through, and yes Paul was not bothered if we used our own cash or not, but way I see it, it goes quite some way to saying thanks for being a fantastic host, for letting a bunch of complete strangers invade your gaff, and being an all round genuine and nice guy, along with letting us play with his porn collection :D

Anyway, let the video's and pic's do the talking now....
