The build date on the back of the cabinet is 15-10-87, jackpot is switchable between £4 token or £2 cash.

First job done, swivel castors installed this afternoon. There's a little water damage on the rear right corner but the base is solid.

I've got some work to do here. Amazingly, it still runs.

nice strong traces on the board.  Lots of vapour corrosion from the nicad but it looks like its only surface rot, you got lucky!

It's Castle's own design, Mach2000. It later evolved into ACE's sp.ACE tech.

Is it backwards compatible with SPACE tech out of curiosity?

Nope, the two techs are quite different.

Very nice Tris! :)

So glad you got this, hope the price didn't hurt too much either. Must have been a huge relief to get this through the front door after all the fucking about!

Good to see it running, yes the board needs a good cleaning but hopefully minimal work for you.

Nice find.  :)

Power supply looks good, nothing to do here except tighten a fuse holder and blow some cobwebs out.

Cheers, the price was a bit of a sting at £420 considering the condition of the MPU but I can handle that! ;)

And yes, the relief when it was finally in the house was immeasurable!!!

Yikes, almost as much as when it was new lol.

Tell us the whole story of how you found it and eventually got it home.

Investigating some snipped wires behind the meter panel...

01CutWires.thumb.jpg.6eedbcc3206b6e5df28fd35d6873421f.jpg

Out comes the panel which reveals the final resting place of a long dead family of spiders...

02SpiderGraveyard.thumb.jpg.f94fbf3e24f6d29c81eacbf6a9508860.jpg

A better look at the wiring. I think the snipped ones are just unused ground connections for the door switches. No idea why they were cut though...

Bonus! It seems that the spiders were the guardians of a hidden treasure trove. Well, 50 pence worth of old tens...

Maybe it's because of the reels but that whole machine has an MPS feel about it(looking at it anyway)
