Another project for £15 (Electrocoin RED BAR)

Recommended Posts

£15 for a non runner (always wanted one of these), sellers says: Plugs in and doesn't do anything and knows nothing of electrics.

Possibly a fuse or a board, or have I wasted £15?

Possibly some work for BF74 with another coin mech re programme and FRUIT58 for a board repair.😬

Your thoughts as always are appreciated.

Can you post pictures of the board please plus to see what game ROM it's running, When switched on are any LEDs lit on MPU? There should be four and will either be red or green.

Not sure yet, only pick up on Sunday but will do full pictures and videos, although I'm going to get a dj friend of mine to speak on the video as I don't like the sound of my own voice lol.

It's only a waste of £15 if it has Deal or no deal on the front of it! Good luck with the repair

Apart from top one being just an early Red Bar and the other a later Super Red Bar. The top one is in one of the old Bar x style cabinets as were the first Big 7 games but they were still released in the original black frames. The later Super Big 7 and Super Red Bars had the taller top glasses.

Yep spot on Ron!

Very strange, i have an early bar x but with later chrome fronts, made me think a mab rebuild by the look of the button panel, then put it on a bar x!

You could be right about  MAB converted machines too as they fitted those chrome panels to the older Electrocoin cabinets

Now that is or was a MAB with the round buttons, I memory serves the plug fittings are different on the two PSUs

I know there are different versions of this I. E. The one they have in the arcade that gives you extra nudges, and another that flashed the win then gave nudges. I prefer the first one.

Over the years a few had had a go at converting Electrocoin games with their own programs and some suffered too when Electrocoin took them to court. Others like Concept Games got license from Electrocoin.

Yep! I have the original mab Rom card for £10 jackpot. Pretty sure this can be used in either super bar x, super big 7 or super red bar.

Yep, i thought so! Thanks for that. The early bar x has 2 small boards, one on top of the main board, one on the right hand side above the main board! I have tried the mk2 psu. Nothing! Looking for a mk1 psu and hope it fires up!

The old ones are the best, I had good runs on them too. I think a bad run was - £30, these days it's - £200, the new ones are brutel.

My local is going video based, only a hand full of old ones left, I spoke to the engineer and said keep the old ones, his reply, maintenance! I'm pretty sure old machines can be maintained without issue and people would prefer playing older fruits.

Right so I picked it up, initially plugged it in and only 2 lights came on on the board, tweaked that white knob on the psu switch, tried again and hey presto it booted up. It's hit and miss if it boots up or not.

The reels are shite so if anyone does them on here let me know.

BF74 you're more than welcome to do my coin mech again.

FRUIT58, got another board for you as the battery has leaked.

The only issue I have now is..

Bottom lights don't seem to work, lowers bulbs, hold buttons and the tube lights, there was no starter motors in the unit, I just so happened to have two that worked, no joy though, could possibly be the board that's corroded and not lighting up the lower lights.

Does anyone know the dip settings as it pays out upon a win, I wish to have a big bank, how do you alter the % or is it fixed?

Here's some pictures and a video to follow...

Psu out, still need a switch if anyone has one, a few broken tracks due to battery leakage, new board on its way.

Those damage tracks could they cause the switch psu thing not to boot? And the bottom lights not to work?
