  1. Hi Everyone. My wife and I recetly acquired a Mayday Monopoly fruit machine (pics attached) and it was previously used by a family as a money saver / piggy bank for their kids (genius!) - not sure if this meant it was changed in any way. They said it was working when they put it into storage (garage) 4 years ago but now when I connect the power all I get is a bit of a crackle / fizz from the power unit and a red light on motherboard. I have tracked round and checked for loose connectors (some are not connected - this looks intentional so I didn't mess with anything at this stage) What looks like the battery (green) seems a bit rusty and the solder has cracked on one of the connections to the board and there is a blue tube like component underneath that looks quite corroded. As you can probably tell I know little / nothing about these machines so if there's a straight forward fix for this or an easy way to switch out motherboard etc then that would be great as I'd rather sell a working machine - otherwise please can you advise me of what / where / how much to sell this for in its current condition. Thanks again for your help - my wife will be glad to get it out of the garage as we can only just shut the door! 😉 Cheers
  2. Hi Guys! I am working on a MPU4 which i pulled from my dad's machine recenlty. The battery leaked, but it seems in pretty decent shape. Some of the BZY88 4v7 diodes are looking really bad, the caps look not so happy, and the transistors near it will be getting preventive maintenance. Problem #1, is diode orientation. I can read a bit of schematic, but translating it into a PCB poses a tiny problem The acid ate at the diodes and i cannot tell properly how they should be placed. Where does the banded side go? I included an image of the PCB area for reference: Some of them i can see and make the guess that the banded side sits at the top. As in the pic, these are my guesses: 1? 2? 3T 4? 5? 6T 7T 8T Other than the many dried out solder joints i do not see too much damage. The tracks below the battery look pretty decent as well. Just to replace these damn diodes..
  3. Greetings! I have an Ace System one machine called Club Supreme The problem is that the battery only holds it's charge for a couple of days I can't find any schematics to know the values of components around the battery area to consider replacement So I have 3 questions; 1) What is the likely culprit of the discharging battery? 2) What is to stop me using a battery holder with say 2x duracell AA batteries (voltage obviously slightly low at 3v) using a diode to block the charging circuit? 3) As (2) but 3xAA rechargables so voltage is correct, but still using a diode as the charging circuit on the board would be inadequate - I could charge/replace the batteries externally on a monthly basis whilst machine is on so memory is not lost. I realise the AA batteries are much higher capacity than a rechargeable, but this is what is done in pinball machines so why not fruities? Surely the memory circuit would only draw the current that is required and not be overpowered? Please don't suggest the coin cell mod - I tried that and it was flat in a couple of days! Thanks for any input.

what size bat for mpu3 please
  5. Hello, I recently got a Barcrest Golden Years with a MPU4 Mod4. It starts up all fine, but if you try to get money out of it it says: Obstruction Alarm. As this normally concerns the hopper, I replaced it with a completely new one. But surprise, surprise it did not solve the problem. I then took a look at the MPU itself. There I could see corrosion by the battery all over the board (pictures included). As I am new to this area, I hoped to get some help from you. I did search in various boards, but did not find an instruction on how to fix this problem. Should I simply buy a new MPU? And if the MPU can be fixed, can the battery just let out, to avoid any corrosion in future? (I do not need any saved credits) Thanks a lot in advance, LaRie http://imageshack.us/g/854/img20120724160304.jpg/
