  1. Hi, Here's the beginning of my second MPU4 mod4 restoration for a Barcrest Ambassador Gum 1000 : this board was the worst of the 4 boards, really nasty battery leakage, lot's of broken tracks. Burn signs on both ULN2803A and resistor pack 22k. I'll come back with the fix list asap. Cheers
  2. Hi, A friend of mine bought 3 fruit machines Ambassador Gum, 3 with working bubblegum distributor, they where made for France or Belgium where money games are forbidden... Only one did turn on, the bassador 1000. The 3000 doesn't boot and the extra AG1000 will be the next project. Here's the restoration project for the Ambassador Gum 3000, MPU4 mod4. Following www.booze.net advices, thanks a million times Paul you convince me to do it, the battery has been removed, changed, and stuck outside the box. Mine had severe blue / greenish leakage damages from battery down to dataport. Audio amp, volume VR1 and neighbours look pretty bad.
  3. My latest addition to my collection is this JPM "Play Bingo" £150 Jackpot Essentially a higher jackpot version of "Reel Bingo" which was £60 or £100 jackpot As you can see, it was filthy when I picked it up yesterday. I have given it a "stage 1" clean. Buttons to come off later for a proper clean. There were no keys, so had to drill the locks and I was suprised to find it as a front opener. I have 3 others in this cab and all are rear openers Love the way it opens in 3 parts and easy to get at everything. Why did they abandon this method? Reels need cleaning. One has come "unstuck" but is not damaged. Bonus in that there was half a tube of 10p's After cleaning (Pic 4) I am pleased to report the glass is superb, lots of chrome detail in the artwork and it has not corroded at all The metalwork is pitted as usual, but is good enough for me Slightly annoying that it only holds £120 in pound coins, then pays 50p's, the later machines I have have 2 x pound coin tubes. It also means I have to ensure I fit a mech that takes 10's and 50's. I can mod it and fit one of the longer tubes I have spare, they are about £150 capacity. I did that on my blackjack club and it pays £148 in pound coins now! First "proper" job will be to replace the rifa's in the PSU and check the board - will do that after me dinner! Phil.
  4. I have just taken delivery of a lovely machine It is NOT A CLUBBER! A couple of picture clues
  5. Well, I was kindly donated this machine last year by a member here but have just not got around to doing anything with it! So here it is - currently on £75 jackpot, but I will be looking to make new decals to make it £100 or £150 if it can go I can't find a switch to change it (My other MPS machines have a seperate switch), so it may be dip switches. It came with a PSU that needs repairing, but no board (MPS2) I have come by a couple of boards that I have tested and they work, so that is sorted Needs a good clean first as it was originally in an outside shed so covered in all sorts of stuff
  6. I've had this machine sat in the garage for some time as I wasn't sure I could even salvage it. Artwork is OK, but buttons missing from the bottom, chrome badly scratched, but the worse bit is inside. Most of the lamp masks have melted as the previous dipstick owner had put 5w car bulbs in Now here is where I had a spot of luck. Recently, up came for sale a top glass and a bottom glass complete with surround and buttons The artwork was shot on both, but I plan to repair the melted lamp masks with the one on the other glass and just swap the bottom glasses over and use the new complete surround. Due to the bulb issue, the mpu was completely burnt out and the psu shot too. I do however have some spare mpu's that I needed to get around to repairing, so this gives me the incentive. Before anyone says - I'm NOT attempting to remove the damaged lamp mask from the good glass as it will likely damage the artwork. My plan is to remove the burnt/melted bits only and cut out the bits I need from the mask on the other glass. Oh yes, the jackpot decal was a poor photocopy, so need to make a new one
  7. Huge thanks to FruitSim who donated this machine to "the cause" along with a couple of untested boards and a suitable Rom card The Roms are on the repro, so I will be burning those shortly. I have removed battery and cleaned up the boards, there doesn't seem to be any track breaks on one of them, so will try that one first. This is my first Sys85 machine. I've given it a clean and will check the psu first. Fuses all OK but 1 cap looks blown so will change that. I also need some advice on connections. All but one are obvious. There is large black connector that goes to an extension board for the top reel. It doesn't fit anywhere. Only some of the pins have wires going to them and they do line up with PLUG Y (see pic 3) Does anyone know if that is correct? Cheers Phil
  8. Hi, I am a real novice who would have no hope of getting a machine working myself - I am hoping to buy win-a-gain and windfall but would need to ask someone to take on the restoration to get both or just one (hopefully win-a-gain) working. http://www.fruitemu.co.uk/ib/index.php?/topic/9409-mpu3-sale/ windfall is complete but not working.condition not to bad but will need frame painting and a clean up.the cabnet has afew knocks and dings etc.the win-a -gain however has tubes missing and has some art work peel,so would only be good for spares i suppose Would anyone like to take this job on for me, please - I am happy to have the machines delivered to you, let me know your thoughts and how much cash you would want for the job (knowing it would be an estimate without seeing the machines themselves) Please help me save a classic machine! Thanks Colin
  9. Had this machine for a while, but had no motivation to repair! As you can see the artwork is really bad. If you touch any of it, it just flakes off Anyway, a MASSIVE thank you to Mike (FruitSim) who kindly let me have a set of glasses for the machine Phil.
