  2. So here it is powered up!! YES!! The reset light works great too!! There is always that pause when you wonder ‘is it going to boot!’ And with the original led on the main board having to be disabled it’s nice to have one you can see to take its place!!

Important to remember no two motors are necessarily the same (been there!) - if replacement motors came from a working deck, drum hub pins drifted out with relative ease and plates marked, replacement motor slot positions also need to follow motors to other plates - had a motor go stiff to point the drive is adversely affected/creates an alarm but as Nick says, very rare. If a motor is removed from its support plate, same exact position in relation to slots needs to be replicated on new support plate, or rechecked/set as follows: Using software that "first phase" energises reels at switch on (without spinning on initialisation - Instant Replay, NU, Spotlight etc.) ... Tighten 4 motor screws to hold motor secure on plate but still allow adjustment in slots on plate (with drum fully tightened to hub using 3 hub screws). Connect a loose reel driver/back board to MPU with red (15-way) cable and connect reel motor to driver/back board with white connector (A,B or C header position). Power on and motor will energise to nearest of 12 "first phase" positions - rotate drum by hand through the first phase 'steps' until indexing hole is closest to sensor. Fine tune by rotating motor in mounting plate slots until drum indexing hole in centred over sensor - fully tighten 4 motor mounting screws to lock in slots. Power off and move drum by hand to another position and repeat power on process above to recheck locked position remains accurate. Given the coloured AMP connector solder joints are often approaching 40yrs as Peter says, can fail at random/during this process and throw you off.

  8. Final lot of pics .the ms mech sorting tubes were fitted and manifold peice too .the door switch and test switch were cleaned and newly chromed holders attached . For some reason the conversion company had drilled out a round hole next.to the test meter door switch .i think it was for the 2p over flow tube to go into .so I decided to cut a new bit of wood and fit to hide the hole .it worked ok but needs a small bit of filler around the edges .I also cut a base plate for it to sit on to keep it in place . The button panel has been cleaned and fitted and the attached holding plate had been chromed. Both glasses are also now in place and s10 mech assembly attached too .looking a bit more complete now .plenty more to do and the reeldeck needs a good clean up .

  12. Check the resistor pack thats connected across the reel opto inputs on the board. You will get reel A fault with no reels connected ! with nothing plugged in all reels will appear to be jammed. If all the reels are spinning normally and your getting reel A fault, look in the back of the machine and see if you can see the reel opto lamps ( early cabs actually had incandescant bulbs for the light source in the opto sensors) lighting up. Sometimes they can die. If a reel is shuddering or not moving its more likely to be a drive transistor or one of the ICs buffering the reels (74LS04s, ICs 12 to 15) if the reels are running, and you can confirm that its not the reel backboard at fault as it has a bunch of resistors on board that can fail, then you are looking at replacing T55 , and then checking IC17, the 74ls138 controlling the opto sensor select, is working. if thats working then you look for pulses on pins 10 -14 of IC5, the 6821 thats interfacing the optos to the cpu. One of the pins will always be stuck as no reel connected to it ( 4 reel machine) but 4 of them should slow pulse as the reels go through the optos. Every time the hole in the reel passes the opto sensor it should pulse ( I think it goes LO to HI briefly but that could be the other way around, to put simply you should see 4 pins pulse when 4 reels moving , if 2 are stuck then thats your problem!) Also change the smoothing caps on the regulator board because bad caps can cause reel jitter and cause the reel to be in the wrong position when the CPU looks for the optos.

  13. No i didn't forget to upload it here Global's Club Storm Force set to 10p/20p @ £250 Jackpot. First of all a big shout out to Mavroz, Vecta & Brucegeorge once more for reel symbols, without them I wouldn't have made this layout and also to Wizard for actually getting this running with it's weird reel configuration. Now a few notes: You can change this to the 5p/ £100 jackpot, just enter edit mode (CTRL & E) then tick the checkbox and untick the one currently ticked then reboot. I've also labelled the dip switches so you can change the %age easily (Thanks to Reg for pointing this out) There are a few fonts included, you may need to install them. Usual keys baring: Hold 4/Exchange is bound to both 4 & E for those who get confused G for Gamble A for Auto Play T for Transfer/10p Play S for Shots F for Features B for Reel Blasts I checked and double checked and it was not in read only mode before uploading.
