  3. Probably all the ones nobody else can fix. Once the rot gets in, even chips that look good from the outside it can be a nightmare. What with the solder joints going crusty too. Still at the end of the day to see one come back to life is a magic thing!

  4. I keep my electro's they way they were originally built and on the coins they were manufactured to accept so all on old money( big coins ), they sound better on payout too.

  7. he 'should' get away with it, but if it has buggered a 68b21 chip the likely hood is it won't boot, but he seems to have dodged that bullet........ well for now until something else seems a good idea at the time! 5p roms are already buggered! think he got lucky this time!

  8. I got a running 9980 chip from polidia I also tried their tms9995 (MPs CPU) and tms9902 which have run flawless so far. Font is all wrong, date codes wrong the black paint is probably incorrect and maybe they glow in the dark.. Same for the synth chip for MPs. As in tune as the original. You can't see that when the reels are spinning if you get lucky and I guess I got lucky. Ian told me only 1 in 10 worked for him You've been warned the fakes may accidentally work ok on a good day... But who knows for how long?

  9. Well done Ron, it's nice to see something that's had a lot of care lavished on it. All this electro mech stuff reminds me of when I was an apprentice for the GPO (as it was then) working in Strowger telephone exchanges. Give me relays any day to all this silicon stuff!

  11. nothing interesting about it, the white port is usually used to drive a additional lamp board on models which need more lamps, so no way will it accept coins plugged into the WHITE connector! The black plug SHOULD have a stopper in it in the keyway to STOP it being plugged into the WHITE socket, put it back into the black socket and leave it there!

  14. Fantastic subject and thread Ron. As technical as it all sounds to some of us who are brain dead on these types lol Ron puts this across to us all very well. Makes me appreciate this class of machine a lot more. I did exactly as Ron suggests above to enhance my own Nudge Gambler. Ha,it was so generous it kept emptying lol But I then converted it to 10p play and £2 20p tokens jackpot by changing the wiring behind the 5p and 10p mechs around so when you put 10p in it went through the 5p input and 20p token through the 10p input...simples. It still has the 5p pay tables except jackpot pays 10x20p tokens instead of 10x10p tokens. With those links wired up you get more holds and nudges ballancing the game play. I have played quite a few electro's in my many years. Bell Fruits, even Brenco's and penny machines. Thinking about what Ron said about greedy operators removing payout links makes me suspect this the main reason for their demise in arcades. Thanks for posting on this Ron. Every collection deserves an electro machine.

  15. That is the way to go but with the 10p mech for the new 10p coins and 50p mech for the new 50p coins as both will adjust to the new coins, the new 5p is too small and light to use in an electro so I would stick with just those two coins.

  16. This is ideal Ron, I love this kind of thread. On my electro someone’s had a go at the timer, as the game plays terrible, and the super start doesn’t work, watching this with interest. No doubt this one is going to be golden by the time you have worked your magic!
