  1. Well as some of you know back in 2015 I designed replica sys80 cpu pcb's and had a few produced into PCB's to test, well the testing never happened despite just being able to plug it into a just arrived non working machine that had had nothing done to it, not even the psu was checked! needless to say it didn't work and I never saw a sys80 machine again! that was back in 2015! So have had this made up card since then really untested!, A 'Tumble' sys80 was promised to test it in but never even saw that machine!! With my posts fairly recently I had several PM's wanting to buy the sys80 replica cards! but as they untested I couldn't! so I tagged a tounge in cheek comment of 'now all you have to do rich is find me a sys80'! on a thread when he found someone a machine they wanted!! well Rich did good!!!! he managed to find me a Sys80 barn find!! He also sorted out the delivery as where it was I had no clue where to even start to get it here!! It arrived Friday! so over the weekend went through it, the cpu card was knackered and the psu had several issues! I finished fixing the psu earlier and am happy with all voltage rails! next I decided to try my replica cpu card in it, the 2 red lights on the I/O went out and the reels spun!!!! could not believe it!! been waiting 3 years to test this card!!! vid..... machine appears to be stuck in lamp test mode! that was down to someone removing the front keyswitch! so now I can get attract AND shutting the door realplay too!! no sound at present but well chuffed the replica cpu cards work!!!!

  4. Good Question.. In BF workshops we had to complete a full machine service in a day but the machines were either brand new or nearly new and no rust to clean off, any replacement parts were at hand in the stores so any faulty or damaged components were just thrown away. Reel bands with any marks were removed and replaced with new, the old reel clutch washers were removed thrown away and again replaced with new. Even brand new machines delivered from Nottingham although did not need stripping down still had to have a full workshop test before going out on site. Mainly coin mech acceptance, payouts and making sure everything in the game was working to spec but even the odd new machine arrived faulty but we could still test a few of those in a shift. Today I work a lot slower and have to take my time so it's done when it gets done😁 With very little new parts I have to make do with what there is and now much of the metal brightwork is rusted and pitted making it more time consuming to clean. When finished though you can see the difference from when you first started and being able to strip them down to so many components is all part of the experience of owning an electro machine.

  6. So this obviously takes time to do, roughly how long does it take Ron?

  7. make sure the plugs and sockets make good connection first as that is more likely to be the cause as although some chips do go intermittent they are more likely to fail and not work at all than work sometimes and not other times
